Trane® Introduces Refreshed Residential Product Portfolio with Low GWP Refrigerant and Increased Energy Efficiencies

Trane® – by Trane Technologies (NYSE: TT) is prepared to support its partners and homeowners through the industry-wide transition to low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants. Throughout this year, Trane® will bring its redesigned residential product portfolio to market that’s performance-optimized with the environmentally conscious R-454B refrigerant with 78% less GWP compared to traditional refrigerants.

For years, Trane has been testing R-454B in its products to validate their performance while withstanding the elements. When redesigning its residential portfolio to work with R-454B, Trane used this as an opportunity to make its products more efficient and remains committed to providing sustainable comfort solutions for homeowners now and for the future.

Key features to the refreshed product portfolio include:

  • Sustainable Design
    • The entire residential product portfolio is compliant with the R-454B refrigerant which has a reduced environmental impact compared to previous refrigerants in addition to having no ozone depletion potential (ODP).
  • Increased Efficiency
    • Each product has been strategically designed for high efficiency across both cooling (SEER2) and heating (HSPF2) performance resulting in increased energy cost savings for homeowners.
  • Integrated Trane® Link™ Technology
    • Coupling energy efficient products with a smart thermostat enhances how and when the system run generating even more energy cost savings for homeowners.
    • Select models in the refreshed residential portfolio provide expanded access to Trane® Link offering comprehensive, real-time diagnostics, ease of installation and the potential for up to 5% additional energy savings.

“Trane is dedicated to shaping a more sustainable future through innovation and purposeful design,” said Dwayne Cowan, president of Residential HVAC at Trane Technologies. “Our refreshed residential product portfolio demonstrates our commitment to helping customers transition seamlessly to the next generation of environmentally friendly HVAC systems while delivering exceptional energy efficiency, durability and reliability.”

To stay on the cutting edge of innovation and provide the highest level of reliability, each unit is exposed to the hardest conditions and situations in Trane’s SEET (System Extreme Environmental Test) Lab in Tyler, Texas for over 2,600 hours of continuous testing.

Trane’s redesigned product offerings are available in three tiers (Premier, Priority and Choice) and include:

  • 20 TruComfort™ Variable Speed Heat Pump with WeatherGuard™
    • The 20 TruComfort™ Variable Speed Heat Pump with WeatherGuard™ replaces the XV20i heat pump. The Trane 20 TruComfort Variable Speed Heat Pump is one of the flagship models in Trane’s lineup and runs at 25-100% capacity for enhanced comfort and energy efficiency.
  • 17 Multi-Speed Heat Pump
    • Like the comparable AC unit, Trane’s 17 Multi-Speed Heat Pump is new to the product lineup. When paired with a compatible air handler, you get all-electric heating and cooling for maximum efficiency at the lowest cost.
  • 15 Single-Stage Heat Pump
    • The Trane 15 Single-Stage Heat Pump is one of the best-single stage heat pumps because of it high-efficiency ratings and more affordable price point.
